Introducing our first and returning exhibitor: Beta Bugs Ltd
Beta Bugs Ltd is a global leader in insect genetics, specialising in the development and supply of high-performance Black Soldier Fly breeds. Through its breeding programme and egg multiplication site, Beta Bugs provides HiPer-Fly® and Just-Fly™ BSF eggs, helping farmers produce sustainable insect protein while supporting waste reduction and circular economy solutions. Based at the Roslin Innovation Centre in Edinburgh, adjacent to the Roslin Institute, leaders in animal genetics, Beta Bugs is driving innovation in agriculture, biotechnology, and sustainability.
Beta Bugs was founded by Thomas Farrugia after spotting the opportunity for improved genetics in the rapidly developing insect farming industry. This has led to securing £6.5M in funding so far to establish an industry-first nucleus population and selective breeding programme for Black Soldier Fly. As a business, we believe that for the insect industry to reach its full potential it will need to specialise and horizontally segment. We see Beta Bugs and genetics supply forming a key part of this value chain, enabling insect farmers to improve their bottom line through the supply of high-quality, genetically improved Black Soldier Fly.
Introducing our second exhibitor:
Insect-IMP a COST action for the Improved Knowledge Transfer for Sustainable Insect Breeding
The Insect-IMP network aims to support insect genetic improvement to enhance food security and sustainability while reducing environmental impact.
Global population growth is set to drive increased demand for food—especially protein. Insect farming offers a sustainable solution to enhance food security, reduce environmental impact, and support modern agriculture. However, insect populations currently used in farming lack genetic improvement and structured breeding programs. In contrast, advances in livestock breeding have significantly improved productivity and sustainability. To unlock similar potential in insects, there is an urgent need for coordinated research in insect genetics and breeding. The Insect-IMP Action connects researchers across genetics, entomology, and veterinary science with stakeholders in the farmed insect sector. By facilitating knowledge transfer between insect species and from established animal breeding programs, the Action aims to advance both insect farming and beekeeping. This collaboration will support the sector’s sustainable growth, strengthen European research capacity, and inform future regulations on insect breeding.
Introducing our third & returning exhibitor: Elmentoz Ltd.
Elmentoz Research Pvt. Ltd. is Asia’s leader in next-generation precision animal nutrition technology, advancing the future of animal health through its proprietary smart protein platforms and technologies. Founded by Indian renowned Biotechnologist Dr. Jayashankar Das, Elmentoz leverages deep expertise in proteogenomics to develop sustainable, high-performance feed solutions for the global feed industry.
Elmentoz’s proprietary molecular platforms and products—ELTRAQ™, ELGROW™, and ELTIDE™—power a new generation solution to the poultry, aquaculture, and pet food sectors.
With its elite BSF strains, BSFGROWX™ and BSFPEPX™, Elmentoz is currently setting up India’s largest BSF-based smart protein manufacturing facility. Driven by technology and sustainability, Elmentoz is on a mission to lead the global transition towards smart protein solutions and antibiotic-free animal nutrition, fundamentally redefining how the world feeds.
Introducing our fourth exhibitor: Insect Engineers
Established in 2019, Insect Engineers specialises in designing and delivering full-scale Black Soldier Fly (BSF) farming systems. With a focus on efficiency, cost-effectiveness, and long-term viability, the company supports clients across the entire BSF value chain — from substrate preparation and precision breeding to production, processing, and climate control.
At the core of their offering is the patented ZOEM rack system, a purpose-built alternative to plastic trays that enables vertical scalability, optimised airflow, real-time feed integration, and 24/7 substrate control — reducing operational costs and improving farm performance.
Beyond engineering, Insect Engineers shares its expertise through the Insect School — a hybrid education platform and training facility offering hands-on instruction, expert insight, and a collaborative hub for innovation in insect agriculture.
Led by founder and CEO Bob Holtermans, Insect Engineers brings together technical knowledge, practical experience, and a clear mission: to make BSF farming commercially successful and globally scalable as a key solution in sustainable protein and organic waste valorisation.
