HEAD OF PRODUCT DEVELOPMENT AT REPLOID

Martin Zorrilla is a lifelong insect enthusiast specializing in Black Soldier Fly (BSF) decomposition ecology and its commercial applications. He studied Agriculture and Entomology at Cornell University and previously led R&D and served as CTO at Nutrition Technologies in Singapore/Malaysia. He now heads Product Development at Reploid in Leipzig, Germany, and was a principal organizer of the IFW 2024 conference in Singapore.

PROFESSOR OF AGRICULTURAL & RESOURCE ECONOMICS AT UC BERKELEY

David is a Distinguished Professor of Agricultural and Resource Economics at UC Berkeley and one of the world’s leading thinkers in agricultural innovation and the bioeconomy. His recent work includes in-depth analysis of BSF waste management systems, combining decades of expertise in sustainability, supply chains, and economic policy.

With over 400 published journal articles and advisory roles for global institutions like the World Bank, FAO, and WWF, David brings unmatched insight into how BSF can shape a more sustainable future.

FOUNDER & CEO OF GOTERRA

Olympia is one of the most visionary voices in the insect protein and waste management space. As the creator of the world’s first decentralised, autonomous insect farm technology, she’s changing how food waste is processed—treating it onsite, where it’s created, using modular systems powered by Black Soldier Fly larvae.

From hands-on experience in wool and cattle farming to building a cutting-edge biotech company from the ground up, Olympia’s career is shaped by deep agricultural knowledge, technical ingenuity, and a fierce commitment to sustainability. Her leadership helped shape Australia’s insect protein regulatory framework, and her tech is now deployed across the country, turning food waste into value while cutting emissions.

PROFESSOR OF ZOOLOGY AT UNIVERSITY OF INSUBRIA, ITALY

Based at the University of Insubria, Italy, Gianluca is a leading expert in insect physiology, morphology, and development. His groundbreaking research on Black Soldier Fly (BSF) includes the first detailed characterization of its digestive and immune systems—laying the groundwork for advanced applications in waste bioconversion and pest control.

With over 150 scientific publications and leadership across numerous international research projects, Gianluca brings a unique scientific depth to the future of insect biotechnology.
